Overview
At the Kalopanayiotis and Lefka reservoirs, located in the village boundaries of Kalopanayiotis, fishing is allowed. Amateur fishermen show particular interest in dams where trout are present. Trout survive in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas, where the change in water temperature is not abrupt, so trout are not present in all dams. Species of fish in our dams: Kalopanagiotis Reservoir: rainbow trout, mosquito fish, brown trout, albacore Lefka Reservoir: Rainbow Trout, Mosquito Fish, Lobster, Eurasian carp, Carp, Rudd, Brown Trout Licenses and Conditions: Fishing licenses are issued by the central and provincial offices of the Department of Fisheries. They expire on 31 of December of the year in which they are issued and the beneficiary pays EUR 17 for one reservoir gate and EUR 34 for more than one. Licenses are personal and are issued only to persons over 12 years of age. Fishing hours are one hour before sunrise and one hour after sunset. The holder of a fishing license may not use more than one half-fin pole. All other ways of fishing are prohibited. Fishing is permitted only on the banks of the reservoir.
